Why I Chose South Korea

Why I Chose South Korea

After all, I'm French.

People usually expect me to say Japan, Italy, or New York. South Korea often surprises them.

The truth is that I never chose Korea because it was fashionable or because it seemed like the easiest place to build an artistic career.

I chose it because, little by little, it changed the way I looked at the world.

At first, it was the culture.

Then it became the people.

Then it became the art.

And before I realized it, it had become a part of who I am.

A Different Way of Seeing Beauty

As an artist, I have always been fascinated by symbolism.

When I discovered Korean culture, I realized that almost everything carries meaning.

A tiger is not just a tiger.

A crane is not just a bird.

An owl, a dragon, a phoenix, a tortoise... each one tells a story that has been passed down through generations.

That deeply resonated with the way I wanted to create.

I didn't want to paint beautiful animals.

I wanted to paint stories.

More Than Inspiration

People often say that Korea inspires my work.

I think it goes further than that.

Korea gave me the courage to start over.

Leaving behind a stable career to become a full-time artist was one of the biggest decisions of my life.

It was frightening.

It was uncertain.

But every exhibition, every conversation, every person I met in Korea reminded me why I had made that choice.

A Bridge Between Two Cultures

Today, my work naturally blends the two cultures that shaped me.

France gave me my artistic roots.

South Korea gave me a new direction.

That is why many of my paintings combine French sensitivity with Korean symbolism.

I don't feel like I have to choose between the two.

My goal is to build a bridge between them.

This Is Only the Beginning

My journey as an artist is still unfolding.

Every painting teaches me something new.

Every exhibition opens another door.

Every person I meet becomes part of the story.

If my work resonates with you, I hope you'll follow this adventure.

Because I believe the most beautiful chapters are still ahead.

Soon, I'll share the full story in a YouTube video, where I'll explain how South Korea completely changed my life and my art.
