달항아리 – 달토끼 | Moon Jar – Moon Rabbit

This original artwork transforms the traditional 달항아리 (Moon Jar) into the moon itself, inspired by the Korean legend of the Moon Rabbit (달토끼).

Instead of simply depicting the moon inside the jar, the entire Moon Jar becomes a lunar landscape. Its surface is sculpted with French sand, creating a tactile, crater-like texture, while gold powder catches the light and gives the moon a warm, luminous appearance.

Hidden within one of the craters, the white rabbit evokes the Korean tale of the rabbit who lives on the moon, traditionally said to be making rice cakes with a mortar and pestle.

Against the deep green background, the textured golden moon becomes both a celestial body and a reinterpretation of one of Korea’s most iconic ceramic forms.
