Peacock painting
This artwork was born from a reflection on the gaze of others and the way we choose to respond to it.
The peacock walks peacefully toward the horizon, never taking its eyes off the light awaiting it. Behind it, its magnificent tail transforms into countless symbolic eyes. They represent every gaze we encounter throughout our lives: those of society, our loved ones, strangers, as well as judgment, criticism, expectations, and sometimes even admiration.
The inspiration comes from the myth of Juno and Argus. After the death of Argus, the hundred-eyed giant, the goddess Juno placed his eyes upon the peacock's tail so they would continue to watch the world for eternity. In this contemporary interpretation, those eyes become a symbol of the many perspectives that accompany each of our choices.
The sunset represents the future and new beginnings. Despite all the eyes fixed upon it, the peacock remains calm and confident. It refuses to be defined or distracted by the opinions of others. Instead, its gaze remains firmly fixed on its own destination.
Through this painting, I wanted to express a personal conviction: criticism may be constant, judgments can sometimes be painful, but what truly matters is remaining faithful to yourself and continuing your journey with quiet confidence and determination.
