Moon Jar – Irworobongdo
달항아리 – 일월오봉도 | Moon Jar – Irworobongdo
This original artwork reinterprets the 달항아리 (Moon Jar) through one of the most iconic motifs of traditional Korean art: Irworobongdo (일월오봉도), the “Sun, Moon and Five Peaks” painting.
The traditional landscape unfolds entirely within the Moon Jar: the sun and moon rise above the five peaks, pine trees, waterfalls and stylized waves. The piece brings together two powerful symbols of Korean artistic heritage, reimagined through my contemporary artistic style.
Vibrant colors are enhanced with iridescent paint and gold ink details, creating subtle changes as the light moves across the artwork. The textured neck and base add dimension, with small beads embedded into the neck for an additional tactile detail.
